German models have dominated the luxury compact sedan segment for far too long but Cadillac now has a genuine alternative in the shape of the 2021 CT4. The 2021 Cadillac CT4 brings together signature Cadillac styling with turbocharged performance, impressive technology, and competitive pricing to offer a real alternative to the usual suspects in this part of the market. Add into the mix Cadillac’s high-quality luxury interiors, available AWD, and a good amount of standard and available safety features, and the CT4 a small car that’s checking some big boxes here.
For any sedan to stand out in today’s SUV-dominated market it has to make a compelling offer to increasingly discerning buyers, and there are plenty of ways you can configure your new CT4 to get it just how you want it. Cadillac offers up the 2021 CT4 in four different trim levels, which are Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport, and range-topping V-Series.
While all versions of the CT4 come standard in rear-wheel-drive format, perhaps the most unique feature of this sensational model is that all four trim levels are also available with all-wheel-drive. If you want a sedan equipped to deal with the full force of winter weather on roads around Thornhill and the Greater Toronto Area, look no further than the CT4.
Another notable feature on the CT4’s impressive list of attributes is its performance. The majority of models are powered by a strong 2.0-litre turbo-four that puts out 237 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, which then goes to the rear or all four wheels through a responsive and intuitive eight-speed automatic transmission.
If that’s not enough power for your liking you also have the option of a 2.7-litre turbo-four engine for Premium Luxury and V- Series models. With Premium Luxury models, the engine produces 310 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque, but this impressive engine is then tuned to develop 325 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque when it’s dropped into V Series versions of the CT4. The 2.7-liter engine also comes mated to an excellent 10-speed automatic transmission. As well as its powerful turbocharged engines, the CT4 is lighter than many of its rivals and a well-balanced chassis completes a successful formula for delivering a truly engaging driving experience.
Even though the compact CT4 sedan is priced more competitively than most of its rivals in the current market there’s no sign that any corners were cut to make the Cadillac so attractively affordable. In fact, buyers who might have looked at the top-level versions of non-luxury sedans might want to think again and instead consider the extremely generously equipped CT4 Luxury instead.
Standard features in the entry model include synthetic leather upholstery, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto compatibility, LED lighting, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, an HD rear vision camera, and plenty more.
Lots of people love high-riding SUVs these days and that’s okay because Cadillac builds some of the best, but the CT4 makes a compelling case for taking a closer look at a sedan as an alternative. The CT4 offers almost the same practicality as an SUV of a similar size but it also delivers the kind of engaging driving experience too many people have forgotten exists.
