When you see a 2023 Cadillac CT4 on the roads of Thornhill, North York, Markham, Richmond Hill, or anywhere in the Greater Toronto Area, the first thing you’ll probably think about is luxury. There’s no problem with that, as Cadillac is a luxury brand, first and foremost. However, with CT4-V and CT4-V Blackwing variants, the CT4 can also offer the kind of performance rarely seen at this level. If you want thrilling performance and sumptuous comfort, the Cadillac CT4 has plenty of both.
The starting point of any Cadillac has to be comfort and luxury, and you can take that to the bank with any version of the 2023 Cadillac CT4. There are plenty of luxury sedans around at the moment, but few offer the range of power and performance the latest CT4 brings to the table. There are three versions of the CT4. The standard CT4 lineup has three trim levels: the CT4 Luxury, CT4 Premium Luxury, and the CT4 Sport. Rear-wheel-drive is standard for all three trim levels, but all three are also available with all-wheel-drive.
Shoppers can then increase performance considerably with the V-Series, which is also a standard rear-drive model with the option of AWD. But if you want the ultimate CT4 performance experience, the exclusively rear-drive V-Series Blackwing takes it to another level.
The standard engine for the 2023 Cadillac CT4 is a 2.0-litre turbo-four that produces a very respectable 237 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, which gets to the rear or all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. If you’d like more power without going to the realms of the V-Series, the Premium Luxury is available with an optional 2.7-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder engine. This unit develops 310 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque, and this time the power goes to the wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The V-Series also uses a version of the 2.7-litre turbo-four, but this time it’s tuned to put out 325 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque. However, if you want the ultimate CT4 experience, the V-Series Blackwing boasts a 3.6-litre twin-turbo V-6 that brings 472 horsepower and 445 lb.-ft. of torque to the party. And if you’re wondering what that power means, it means 0-100 kph arrives in around four seconds.
Along with a broad spectrum of performance, the 2023 CT4 also offers a wide range of specifications and configurations with impressive levels of standard equipment. Standard features include synthetic leather upholstery, remote start, wireless phone charging, power-adjustable heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Higher trim levels get more upscale interiors with genuine leather upholstery, but the engines and performance are the main upgrades because the base model is very well-equipped in its standard form. Higher trim levels do bring a lot of upscale options into play, however. These include ventilated seats, a Bose premium audio system, Super Cruise, Surround Vision Recorder, a head-up display, and more.
The 2023 Cadillac CT4 is a superb compact executive sedan that also has a devilish side to it. On the one hand, it can be classy, sensible, comfortable, and luxurious, but it can also be a bit of a hooligan without losing any of its luxury appointments.
