If you want every journey through Thornhill, North York, Markham, Richmond Hill, and the Greater Toronto Area to be an event and always want to make a big impression whenever you arrive, the only vehicle to be seen in has to be the 2023 Cadillac Escalade. Escalade has long been a byword for Luxury, elegance, and excess, and the 2023 model manages to exceed the illustrious standards set by its predecessors.
In the 2023 Cadillac Escalade lineup, three are plenty of opportunities for shoppers to configure their ideal luxury SUV. There are no fewer than six different trim levels and three engines to choose from, and the standard specification of every model includes four-wheel drive and a ten-speed automatic transmission. A big price gap exists between the entry-level and top models in the Escalade family, but there’s no such thing as a “cheap” or “basic” Escalade. And if that’s not enough choice for you and you want something even bigger, there’s an extended wheelbase ESV version of the 2023 Escalade, too.
The first model in the 2023 Escalade lineup is called the Luxury, which is much more appropriate than calling it the “Base” model anything as disparaging. From there, the Escalade family goes to the Premium Luxury, Sport, Premium Luxury Platinum, Sport Platinum, and finally to the awesome top-of-the-range Escalade V-Series.
Forget about those full-size SUVs with only a single engine and no alternatives. The 2023 Cadillac Escalade offers shoppers no fewer than three powerplants for shoppers to choose from. The standard engine for all models apart from the V-Series – which most people will be more than happy with – is a superb 6.2-litre V-8 providing the Escalade with 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. The Escalade is a massive vehicle, but the standard engine can get it from 0 to 100 kph in around six seconds.
However, if you want to take your SUV to another level of luxury performance, the 2023 model year ushers in a V-Series model featuring a 6.2-litre DI engine that develops a ridiculous 682 horsepower and 653 lb.-ft. of torque. And if you think the standard powerplant is quick, the V- Series can get from 0 to 100 kph in around four and a half seconds. Every model apart from the V-Series are also available with a third option, which is a 3.0-litre inline-six turbodiesel developing 277 horsepower and the same 460 lb.-ft. of torque as the standard gas powerplant.
The comfort, Luxury, connectivity, safety, driver assistance, and infotainment features of the 2023 Cadillac Escalade are genuinely sensational, with almost automotive feature you can imagine being standard or available with the 2023 Escalade. The Luxury lives up to its name with standard HD Surround Vision, heated front and outboard second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, and a massive 16.9-inch OLED touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity.
Of course, the Sport Platinum and range-topping V-Series are as special and bursting with standard equipment as you’d imagine. As well as that incredible 682-horsepower engine, the Escalade V-Series has all the luxury and high-tech features of the Sport Platinum. However, the V-Series also has standard Night Vision, which helps you see beyond the SUV’s headlights with a thermal heat image highlighting pedestrians or large animals detected directly ahead of the vehicle.
The 2023 Cadillac Escalade is much more than another large SUV; it’s a special event on four wheels. The only way to genuinely appreciate its magnificence is with a test drive from Roy Foss Cadillac at 7200 Yonge Street, Thornhill, ON.
