Anyone looking for a spacious, comfortable, stylish, and luxurious three-row crossover SUV for transporting up to seven people around Thornhill, North York, Markham, Richmond Hill, or anywhere in the Greater Toronto Area has to check out the 2024 Cadillac XT6. The 2024 XT6 wears a simplified version of Cadillac’s latest styling but still has all the presence you’d expect from a Caddy. GM’s excellent Super Cruise system is now available for those who want the additional luxury of limited hands-free driving on many highways.
There are three relatively straightforward trim levels in the 2026 Cadillac XT6 lineup, but most shoppers are likely to gravitate to the mid-range and top trims. Like the other XT models in the luxury brand’s current portfolio, the 2024 XT6 is available in Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trim levels. And like the smallest model in the company’s SUV lineup, the Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels share top billing and the same starting price.
All three trim levels are standard all-wheel-drive, but the overwhelming majority of models you’re likely to come across will be Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels. At this level, the price gap between the XT6 Luxury and Premium Luxury is relatively small, and the Premium Luxury specification easily justifies the higher price.
If you are interested in the 2024 Cadillac XT6 Luxury trim, you’ll get the same engine under the hood as the smaller models in the XT lineup without the upgrade option. But as fantastic an engine as it is, it’s hard to imagine many shoppers resisting the temptation to go for the more powerful V-6 that’s standard with the Premium Luxury and Sport models. The V-6 is a 3.6-litre unit that puts 310 horsepower and 271 lb.-ft. of torque at the XT6’s disposal, and both powerplants come mated to a standard nine-speed automatic transmission.
Like the model below the XT6 in the XT family, the 2024 XT5 Sport lives up to its name with Brembo front performance brakes, a chassis with real-time damping suspension, a heavy-duty cooling system, and performance suspension system with on-demand selections of Tour, AWD, Sport, and Off-Road modes. The XT6 Sport also boasts a few sportier exterior styling cues, while the Premium Luxury uses chrome instead of body colour and blacked-out trim.
We expect certain things from luxury vehicles, especially Cadillacs, and the 2024 XT6 more than lives up to those expectations. The front and second-row seats are comfortable and spacious, and if you don’t need the full complement of seven seats, you can have a couple of captain’s chairs in the second row instead of a bench. The XT6 departs from much of the competition in the third row, where the seats are much more generous than we’re used to seeing and genuinely usable.
The XT6 Luxury specification is impressive, with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, synthetic leather upholstery, and heated front seats. Premium Luxury does what the name suggests by adding the likes of genuine leather upholstery and a power-folding third row. Although the standard specifications are impressive, you can go much further with an extensive list of options, including Super Cruise driver assistance technology and a Surround Vision Recorder.
The 2024 Cadillac XT6 more than lives up to its billing as a three-row luxury SUV in all its forms, but it also offers plenty of options for tailoring it to suit your specific taste, requirements, and budget.
