How do you determine my vehicle’s trade-in value?
We evaluate your vehicle based on real market data, current demand, mileage, condition, features, and any reconditioning required. Our goal is to provide a fair, transparent value based on what your vehicle is worth today — not guesswork.
How long does the appraisal process take?
Most appraisals can be completed in as little as 15–30 minutes once your vehicle is inspected. Timing may vary depending on vehicle condition and payoff verification.
Is there any obligation to sell my car?
No. There is absolutely no obligation to sell or buy. You can get an appraisal, review the offer, and decide if it’s right for you.
Do I need to buy a vehicle from Roy Foss to trade mine in?
No. While many customers apply their trade-in value toward another vehicle, you are not required to make a purchase to receive an appraisal or offer.
Can I trade in my vehicle if I still owe money on it?
Yes. We can help verify your loan payoff with the lender. If your trade-in value is higher than what you owe, the difference is positive equity. If you owe more than the value, we’ll clearly explain your options.
What happens if my vehicle has negative equity?
If your loan balance is higher than your vehicle’s value, the remaining balance may be applied to your next purchase. Our team will walk you through the numbers clearly so there are no surprises.
What should I bring to my appraisal appointment?
Please bring your driver’s license, vehicle ownership or registration, all keys or key fobs, and loan payoff information if applicable. Service records are helpful but not required.
How does trading in a vehicle reduce tax in Ontario?
In many cases, HST is applied to the price difference between your new vehicle and your trade-in value — not the full purchase price. This can result in meaningful tax savings. Final tax amounts are confirmed during your transaction.
Is trading in better than selling privately?

Will accidents or damage affect my trade-in value?
